3rd Annual Mon River Sweep

Join us for the 3rd Annual Mon River Sweep, a large-scale community clean-up focused on restoring and caring for the Monongahela River and surrounding trail corridors. This hands-on day is all about showing up for our river, our trails, and the shared spaces that connect Morgantown.

Volunteers will work in teams to remove litter and debris along the riverfront and trail system, helping improve water quality, safety, and overall quality of life for everyone who uses these spaces. Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole day, every bit of help makes a real impact.

Supplies, Equipment & Partners:

All clean-up supplies will be provided by Three Rivers Waterkeeper, the Mon River Trails Conservancy, the West Virginia Water Research Institute, and the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO).

Canoes and kayaks will be available thanks to Adventure WV and Ascend WV.

This effort is proudly unified in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, BOPARC, the City of Morgantown, West Virginia University, and the Brad and Alys Smith WVU Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative.

What to Bring:

• Sturdy shoes

• Non-cotton socks

• Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty

• A change of clothes/towel

Who: Open to individuals, families, students, and community groups This is a rain-or-shine event. Please dress for the weather.
